GH4 Panasonic GH4 warranty/customer service?

Also, Panasonic will make a FREE loaner GH4 available during that time period directly to the end user.

Illya, what is the process for setting up a loaner GH4 when we send in our GH4 for repair through HRC? I saw you mention this before, so I called HRC and the people I spoke to didn't seem to have any knowledge of this benefit (they also put me on hold to check with others). One of the reasons I purchased the GH4 from HRC is because of the expedited repair service and loaner benefit, so your insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sol,

I'm surprised to hear you say that. Did you get a name? We only have one brand new person, but they don't usually answer the phone, and everyone else should know this.

It's really quite simple. You can drop off (or ship) your camera with HRC and we will ship it to Panasonic for expedited service. Panasonic offers the free loaner directly to the customer, you need only secure the loaner camera with a credit card. My understanding is that you aren't charged unless you fail to return the loaner. My office has the number for the loaner GH4. Recently I've heard of several people getting their camera back in less than 1-week, and I heard a stroy about one person got there's back in 24-hours.

As for what Keylight said, I know that the Panasonic service was not good in the past. I also know that Panasonic had previously outsourced some of their service to 3rd parties. However, I do know that in the past 9-months or so it's a whole new department, with new people in charge! And yes it was merged on some level with professional service- just like much of the consumer and professional R&D being merged, which is why you have a 4K camera for $1699 in the first place. Panasonic set out not to just improve the service, but to strip it down and build it back up to be the best in the industry. Compared to the other major manufacturers, I'd say they are doing a heck of good job at reaching their goal.

Feel free to call me directly at the shop if you have any further questions.

Amazon and good customer service, you have to be kidding me. Possibly if you buy directly from Amazon, but let me tell you about how it works with their trading partners. I purchased a video oriented item, and the vendor sent me something different than what I ordered. No problem I think, mistakes happen, a simple return and re-ship is all that's needed. What could possibly go wrong? So I start the process and get no response from the reseller. I leave two messages on their non-humanoid message line and get NO RESPONSE FOR FIVE poo pooING DAYS. I finally get an RMA and send it to them. Weeks pass, phone calls are ignored, and I finally, after three weeks talk to a real live person who expedites my return which only takes two more weeks.

The real issue here is about Amazon and how they DONT SUPPORT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I purchased this item on Amazon, that makes me their customer right? After several phone calls to them during this process, they were no where to be found. They were not going to expedite my issue, and offered no assistance whatsoever. I was on my own.

When I have had product issues with the reputable and authorized dealers for any of my gear, I have always received great service by comparison. In this case, Amazon has a relationship with a marginal vendor, and would do nothing to help me the customer who purchased from their site.

Rant finished

Has anyone else had their GH4 or YAGH serviced under this? I just did a chat with the B&H service representative and they had no idea what I was talking about, and as far as I know they are one of the PPPDs, though that article at the start of this thread has conveniently disappeared now.

My YAGH has been sitting on a shelf for a while now, really want to get it fixed.

Hi Elvis,

I'm not sure what your expectations are for service, but B&H is the absolute largest retail camera corporation (in the world.)

Even though you didn't purchase from Hot Rod Cameras if you want help navigating these waters, I'm happy to help get your camera or YAGH sent in for expedited service.
