GH4 Panasonic GH4 Demand Outpaces Supply

I don't have any need for 4K. And I'm not ordering a G4.
Just what I predicted from the beginning 😊

Good for you! I am not getting a G4 either, but a GH4 I am, as soon as is available! Just like I predicted! And of course I will start making money with it as soon as I take I out of the box!

its been the same every release, and for the most part same goes with any popular release be it a toy, game, phone or a piece of clothing.

There you go! First so many people were saying I don't have any need for 4K, now the same people, after seeing the Gh4's performance, are saying I must have 4K for my projects! Exactly what I predicted from the beginning.
I concur. People love to say they are different, "my talent is my tool" blahblah blahblah...

In the end, they forget resolution matters. Other than that, mere non sense and lots of non professionalism over here. Anyone who fights to print a poster can easily follow why so.

Ha nice 😊. I am not getting a GH4 either. But if it makes
business sense for you, and will make you more money by
being able to offer 4k, then you should buy it. And as an
added note, I want clients like that 😊.

How can't it make business sense? A vastly improved image quality for $1700.00? And of course I am not even thinking about delivering in 4K. The advantages of 4K acquisition for 1080P delivery are too many to pass. But if you are OK with your current set up it is fine too.

It's a really odd thing that happens around here when a new camera is released.
Just because someone isn't going to buy camera x, it doesn't make them less intelligent, less talented, or a person who is failing to "see the light". It just means their needs do not warrant an expenditure of X amount of dollars for said camera. Seen it before with the Black Magic, the Magic Lantern 5DMK3 developments, the GH3 (which is now supposedly terrible because of the GH4?) and yadda yadda yadda camera after camera.
If you are getting the GH4, sweet!
I find the GH4 interesting, like to keep up with developments and may get one when they are more widely available, but like with other cameras It won't be because I believe it to be the be all end all.

How can it not make business sense? Really easy. $1700 paid
out. But no increase in my rates because my clients won't pay
for 4k. That makes no business sense. And vastly improved
image quality? Vastly improved from what?

Does the vastly improved image quality automatically equal more income? If it doesn't, then it's hard to say it makes business sense. Everyone's mileage may vary, because it depends on what the image quality is improving upon. Even after I get the GH4, I'm still going to use the AF100 for the majority of my work... the improved image quality over the already good image of the AF100 doesn't justify the tradeoffs of other things (no XLR, no waveform, no dual SD slots, that sort of thing). I shoot a ton of medical stuff, and it's often run and gun... a frankenrigged DSLR will only hinder me. And none of the marketing folks I deal with could give a rat's rear-end about 4K acquisition... they're perfectly happy with what I'm giving them now.

These are tools. Nothing more. One tool isn't always appropriate for every scenario, regardless of whatever cool feature it may have.

I'm glad now that I cancelled my order due to this audio bug, I can't believe the response they gave to the community, their advice, use a Panasonic mic. lol That's one for the books.

Ok. Like I said, if you are OK with your current set up is fine. You don't need to discuss the subject any further.

Perfectly fine but if you are not getting the camera there is absolutely no need to discuss it at all. If I am positively interested in a new camera I spend my time researching it, watching the videos from people that already have it, checking out the reviews, commenting in the appropriate forum, etc. If I am not interested in the camera I won't do anything of the above let alone mention in a forum that I am not getting it. That is just plain silly. If at the end of my research I find out I won't be getting it it is a decision between me and myself alone.

Well, when someone makes a statement similar to this....

'Everyone was making the claim that they don't need 4k. Now those same people are
buying the GH4, just as I predicted'

Well lets just say i feel that is going a bit beyond just checking out reviews, and viewing the video
from it to decide if you will get it. And that type of statement may draw some responses from
these people who made the claim that they didn't need 4k (like me) as I sort of feel misrepresented
by a statement which implies that I and others like me, blindly follow manufactures hype and
'must have' a new toy. If the above statements wouldn't have been made, I would have never
have commented in the thread.

In conclusion, if it works for anyone, totally grab it. Looks like a great looking cam.
I am personally not a big fan of DSLRs and would rather use cameras made for motion
and not stills, but that is a personal preference.

Is that bug relevant...? I guess world is not perfect, tools either. We must adapt it. But if this increases the chances to put my hands on one here in Europe, I concur with you :-)

You said it all. Luckily no more the ban hammer over here... Imagine if it would be in the middle of HVX launch instead ;-)
