GH3 Panasonic GH3 - Capable of NTSC and PAL?

I believe it is one or the other, and has to do with taxation in Europe. Same with having record time limits.

Strange... There's a video on VIMEO doing tests and they show 24P then 25P side by side so I assumed they did it with one camera. Maybe just certain ones do both?

That seems rather backwards. I don't believe you can put higher frames rates into a lower frame rate "wrapper".

I don't see why not, it would just be natively played back at 24p. 10s of footage would suddenly become 25s of slomo.

Just a recap and a clarification.... Yes, they are in fact world cameras and not limited to NTSC *or* PAL. In Nick Driftwoods wifi video at 3:34 he shows ALL record modes available 24,25,50,60P... and in fact, he's recording at 25P initially, then changes it to 24p all I and starts recording... so yes, it's confirmed by this video.

According to Andrew Reid (EOSHD), the PAL version can do 60P, but it is in a 24P wrapper.

i think he is refering to the menu feature called "frame rate"? when i shoot 25p and select "frame rate>40%" from the menu it automatically changes my 25p to 24p and records 40% slow motion in camera. does this sound about right for the PAL model being able to shoot 60p?

the driftwood video doesn't show any 60p options that you suggested, i've a PAL model GH3 from the UK and it shoots, 24, 25 & 50p (no 60p options) apart from the "frame rate" in camera slow motion feature that exports a 24p stream already slowed down by 40%.

True....I didn't notice that there was no 60 P mode, so it does 24 and 25.... if it does 24 then it's a world camera right? Is there a 30 min limit on 24P footage in AVCHD mode?

yeah the UK GH3's shoot both 24 & 25p, just no 60p unfortunately.

to me "world camera" suggests the same camera sent out all over the world, as they are not the same we will have to stick to calling them the "PAL or NTSC" models.

yeah 29m59s time limit in MOV & AVCHD modes and strangely 27m11s limit in MP4 mode.

ALL cameras can do 24p since that's "cinema standard".
EU cameras can do 25p and 50p PAL but only 29min59sec.
US cameras can do 29.97=30p and 60p NTSC without a duration limit.
JP cameras could be interesting as they use 50HZ and 60Hz mains power in different parts of the country, so JP cameras MAY be switchable. (Can anyone check that? Are they switchable to other languages or at least to English?)

EX-Tele mode is not available in 50p/60p modes nor in the slow motion modes. (source: http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5304/gh3-user-reviews-and-opinions/p1 )

Is that about right?
If the US models can indeed not do PAL framerates, that sadly I'll have to wait 2-3 years for a hack that may or may not happen. :(
(Recording 60-240 minute stage events in 30p in Europe with an imported camera would be insane with a 50Hz power grid and thus flickering lights at 30fps.)

So i have asked many times with no acknowledgement that the GH3 would only be capable of making BlU Rays for me in 720/24P or 50i with after filming conversion of 25/50P being needed,my GH2s 25P being in a wrapper.
