Panasonic English - (Panish?) your examples invited

Frustrated? exasperated? stupefied? shaking your head? muttering expletives??? Why not copy and paste your example of "Panish" here.

The objective of this thread is to get enough examples of poorly written "Panasonic English" for someone at that illustrious company (whose salaries we pay) to consider employing a native English speaker to redraft all instructions/manuals etc so that they are intelligible without wincing/deciphering/taking-a-best-guess/wondering-what-the-hell-it's s'posed- t'mean etc. Very often it can be mission critical stuff too. If we get enough examples "just maybe" Panasonic will listen. Let me kick off with this:

Page 61 Contents Management Software Manual (fairly important?)
" When you select clips that you want to ingest will be
inverted. Any multiple clips are selected if you click them pushing
Ctrl button. Sequential clips are selected if you click them
pushing Shift button. You can select all clips if you click Ctrl+A or [Edit]
[Select ALL]. *If you select all clips during displaying clips, un-displayed
clips are waited. System display sand clock."

Yes it can be deciphered - (with maybe one sentence actually unambiguous) - but the point is why not make it ALL properly legible - i.e. English?

I started a thread a few days back with a poll about Panasonic's version of the English language which has now sunk out of sight. 7 people agreed (Yes) and 2 people disagreed (No - they didn't mind figuring it out). I'll give up on the poll and go for examples instead. Hopefully enough "quotes" may come in to be of interest to Panasonic. That's the point. (Okay - so I'm not so busy this week!)

I think you are fighting against the tide here. All Japanese and Chinese made products have always had poorly translated Engrish documentation, there are even websites devoted to this http://www.engrish.com/

I don't see this changing anytime soon unless Jan wants to take it upon herself to spend massive amounts of time and money to re-do the manuals that come from Panasonic Co Japan.

Who's on first?

I have to agree with Dan, and that's why no one responded to the poll.

The manuals are not very helpful, and the web site's poor organization is well documented here.

My guess is that the larger portion of Panasonic cams are sold to English speaking individuals. May be wrong on that.

But we do agree that better attention to detail and clarity needs to be considered and implemented.
