Panasonic did not show MFT cameras at the NAB

All DSLR/Mirrorless is entry level, but entry to what? Well, everything that GoPro and phones do..(almost).

Here’s Gerald Undone’s NAB recap, at about the 8 minute mark is GH6, and just past 9 minute mark is everything new and interesting from Canon.

I was there, I didn't even see an EVA1 on display! It was really a letdown as far as Panasonic goes which is shame as they had some great cameras as it was. Then again, Sony didn't have much new either but rumors are now talking about summer announcements so maybe Panasonic is just trailing along too? I don't know, it was a disappointing show with not much new or different aside from various lenses which were fun to see and play with.
 
IMO, the shows aren't what they used to be, what they once meant for companies, the industry as a whole.

I've worked in a different but similar industry (tech/retail) and going to them was for learning about your competitors (in a truly competitive environment) and to have a presence.

Everyone agreed they were a huge waste of money and getting a shout-out on YouTube from a few people with a few hundred thousand subs was better, ha.

It's fun for people though...get out of the house, connect, maybe party.

The cartel placed MFT in the first tier of the ILC's above smartphones. Having said that, depending on a type of a photography one does, a top tier smartphone might be preferred to an entry level MFT at a similar price point (if one includes the cost of lenses). Maybe for BiF, an MFT with a tele zoom is preferable but for the up-close family and pets shots, a $1,200-$1,500 smartphone is as good in terms of an image quality and, at the same time, much more convenient.

As to the NAB, Zack and Bob seem to be in agreement. And, since both of them were there in person, it's probably a sign that neither of them is insane. Or both of them are.
 
As a proof that the marketing power is with the coterie of YouTubers, Nikon is launching Z8 online on the 10th of May.

The NAB? What NAB? Fuhgeddaboudit. We're going global.

This would have been unthinkable before Covid.
 
Since I sold my FS7 and replaced it with a set of Lumix 4/3 camera's my life became a lot easier and lighter. 80% of what I make is for Youtube or Vimeo.
I think it will be hard to see in real life, what camera was used. Full Frame, APS-C or MFT. The MFT holds well on a big projection screens.
Only a bit more dynamic range would be nice, and even that is discutable.

I wish there was a good (Blind) test were good cameramen used the different types of sensors/camers, and get the most out of each camera. Yes I realy would like that.

Now it makes sense why one Panasonic person said there was no MFT cameras at the show when there actually was a GH6: The reason the GH6 was there was because it is the only current Panasonic camera with a USB-C port that can feed external storage. That USB-C capability was needed to demonstrate the handle that contains a 2TB storage card. They said that the new version of the S5 will also have that capability, but it is not yet available. Thus, only the GH6 at present works with the storage handle.
