GH2 Panasonic Color... is it just me?

Is it just me or is the color that Panasonic equipment provides a step above? I have an HMC40
and when shopping for it, comparing against a friend's Sony, it seemed like the Sony lacked saturation.

Now as I prepare to spec a DSLR, it seems that the searchable comparisons with 60D's and D7000's
say the same thing. Panasonic colors are richer.

What do you think and am I making a fair comparison between the GH2, D7000 and 60D?

It seems like Canon and Nikon are the Ford/Chevy boys of the camera world. I am beginning to think
that the GH2 brings a bit more to the table for photo and video work, both with the enhanced color,
auto focus and the low light ability demonstrated in a comparison video with film makers.

Thoughts?

Panasonic cameras in general definitely have a look that emphasizes wider gamma curve- i.e. you see more contrast in an image and a bit less chroma than other camera makers. Of course that's stock settings out the factory door, which can be altered to individual tastes.

I think the GHx cameras look much better than the canon/nikon stuff but all of the canon folks will say that their canons look better, etc. I think canon DSLRs just look over saturated in an unnatural way, but that seems to be what people like about them.

That aside, I think Noah said it best.

I think the Canon DSLRs all have a colored look that has way more green and yellow hues than Panasonic's, so I think the GH1/2 look better. Canon has a very distinctive look that some like, but I think you should be able to capture an image that is the closest to reality, and then add a stylized look in post if you want, instead of being stuck with the style your camera can't get rid of.
