Paul, any chance you can post us some good cat videos?

But seriously would love to see some everyday around home stuff. Handheld with camera movement, various lenses, focus on the midtones tonal range without worrying about showing off DR / highlight retention. Some nice colorful content.

Hope you love your new camera!

yeah, for me personally, the best looking clips I've seen yet. Looks like just shot straight from scene file. Good contrast and light. And on the cheaper sigma lenses which tend to not be quite as clinical.

More low light, high ISO tests from actual user:

Base 2500 is below what my expectation was set at by Panasonic, but it's not BAD. I just wish it looked sharper and cleaner in the shadows and mids. The brighter portions seem much cleaner overall (not as good as 800 per the ProAV, but fine). This may help make the EVA-1 a "mid-light" monster but just passable for lowlight. Which isn't all bad, its just not great.

I will say, that while I'd have some reservations on even Base ISO 2500 for corporate work, I think it would be perfectly acceptable up to 3200, maybe 5000, for lower to mid work such as a wedding or documentary piece. Most people won't notice. Especially with some NR added it could hold very well in these scenarios.

In fact, in a pinch, 8-10 might even be passable for an emergency situation like an ultra-lowlight documentary situation with a little post work. Not demo-reel stuff, but actually useable, whereas on a GH5 those sorts of ranges would be a disaster. Same with cameras like a BMD. Corporate? No. Ideal? No. But a nice tool to have in the bag if in a real pinch.

I do wish I felt more comfortable from what I've seen so far with Base 2500 as I do a lot of indoor natural light coverage and a little cleaner image there that could have inspired corporate level confidence would have been nicer. But it's not bad.

As a point of technical impressiveness, I want to point out how impressive it is that a camera with nearly double the photo-sites of a 4k sensor is holding "same ballpark" as competitors. That's some technical mojo there to have a camera with that much more resolution hold its ground and have similar (even if below set expectations) results.

Funny thing is, some will blame online compression. Yet, 80-90% of this camera will be displayed online.

Does EVA 1 have an iOS app to control the camera? I didn't see it as a feature but I thought it was supposed to have the ability.

EVA ROP. currently only available as an iPad app. downloaded it a few days ago.

I'm interested how well it works. Being able to control the camera with an app is important for me since I do a lot of shooting without a camera opp. With the GH5 I use the app to change settings but more importanly i can focus the camera. I think the EVA 1 would be a great companion to my GH5.

Except it's not the same, ISO2500 seems to clearly be a bit noisier...

The DUAL ISO is mainly about preserving dynamic range and not noise performance. ( though it seems like the Varicam 35 and LT do keep noise under better control )

A question on this: is it actually a "digital zoom"? Or is it a 1:1 pixel scan of the central 4k out of the 5.7k sensor? That's the way Panasonic has implemented "I.Zoom" on other cameras and it is of course much better quality than a typical digital zoom. I am assuming it is a punch-in and using a full raster image to make it's frame, but I figure it is worth verifying.
I believe that is correct but have to verify.

Clearly, something is amiss. Laverdir, I noticed you joined the forum 5 years ago but made 14% of your posts in just the last 48 hours with most of them having similar head scratching content. Now some people are picking on you, and you are posting more peculiar posts. If you need some help or if something is wrong, please reach out to someone. Maybe you are having a goof or maybe your on a bender. But please, if you are having some event, please seek help. If not, tell me to go jump. Cheers.

DR Is determined by noise performance... they are the same thing. DR is literally the space between white clip and noise, and ISO is essentially determined by white clip in a system with a specified 6.5stops over middle grey, so the only variable here is noise if ISO and therefore white clip are givens.

Nice statistics, concerned about my mental health? Thank you for asking, I'm quite all right.

My behavior was announced, my goal is for people to get educated. Isn't that a noble cause worth pursuing?

Look one post before yours, did you see how easy is to cause headaches.

If you're going to make jokes on a professional forum please identify them as such so that people are not confused.

For those who do not know, the above statement is not true.

Do you accuse users of this forum not being intelligent enough for recognizing a joke?

Could you point me out where is that rule written for users of this or any other professional forum.

If I'm in breech of any rule using this forum and humor is forbidden here, I'll stop and never come back.

There is an announcement of TRIPLE ISO in future firmware upgrades.

Why did you write this? What are you trying to do exactly? You know it’s not true but someone reading your comment could think that it is. This type of comment is misleading, useless and not even funny.
