If Sony do get something extraordinary out in the next week that will be a tough one for Eva1.
Interesting you have a camera-mounted shotgun. Must not do narrative work.

Saw someone mention the Gratical Eye in this thread, looks like a nice lightweight EVF,
with my lack of tech know how, could I power this thru the cam via a standard EVA1 battery? really want to keep the cam as light as possible
Also as a 6 ft 4" cam op, can anyone recommend a shoulder rig/support unit, I prefer to have my cam sit about chin height to look down into the evf when necessary,
and also because I'm way too tall to keep eye level with talent if its mounted any higher!
Good news! Today, also Mitch Gross has now approved to shot footage with EVA1, so we'll see new footage very soon!
I dunno, probably Facebook is a more fast way to communicate. Why news and updates are being posted elsewhere, I'm guessing facebook, instead of on the forums here too? Or is it just my impression?
its a great EVF someone on this forum stated that Swit will be coming out with a battery that will power both.
If was 6.4 I would look into something like this:
http://www.atlascamerasupport.com
or an easyrig
Cheers @Icarusfilm never considered one of these, anyone have experience with Atlas kit? Seems reasonably priced and easier to set up
compared to the meccano like shoulder rigs Ive been looking at,
EDIT - checked out the Atlas reviews online, seems like a winner! especially at that price, gonna order one of these to go with the new EVA![]()

I was at NAB NY today. Mitch said the EVA1 cameras on display had been updated with the production version firmware that will ship with the camera. Mitch was displaying the high iso capabilities of the camera. Images looked good.
I talked with a battery manufacturer today, and it looks like a solution will make it to market. Not yet ready to announce, but I think it will happen. We're talking a 7.2v battery that mounts in the camera to power it that also has a 12v regulated P-Tap socket for powering small items such as a viewfinder or Teradek, or maybe a recorder like an Odyssey or Shogun (but not all the above -- that's too much juice). More soon.
