I think whether it's footage from the EVA-1 or not is irrelevant...

While I'm interested in seeing the camera tested in tough situations, there's little to go by until it's done by someone who can set things up correctly, can validate settings, and narrate what's happening.

As far as where the footage came from, a local shop told me they may be getting demo units in soon so it may be possible to check out the camera soon in person. I am assuming some were sent out, and this is where the early footage leaks may be coming from, if authentic.

If you are interested in the EVA 1, personally, I wouldn't even waste my time looking at this footage shot by hacks, which may or may not have been shot on an EVA 1. The screenings in NYC and LA would be the first time we'll get a chance to see what the camera can actually do in the hands of a pro. I have no interest in seeing what hacks can do with any camera.

Hi Mitch, is this real footage?

Ha ha ha, get this. What I've been told is that these guys wanted to make a video to promote the EVA1 but they didn't have access to a camera. So they shot some pretty nature footage (blown out highlights, crushed blacks and all) and used it as generic background footage while they discussed the various attributes of the camera. I don't speak French so I don't know if they actually state this clearly in the video, but it's pretty misleading to me and I've asked that it either be taken down or at least replaced with a graphic at the start noting that none of the footage came from an EVA1 camera.

Hey, just stumbled upon a function I didn't realize was in the camera. It's a minor one, but a nice convenience. Earlier in this epic thread someone asked why there was a button labeled INFO and I didn't really have a good answer. Turns out, if you're on the HOME screen (that's the screen that gives all the most common info and let's you adjust directly from it, much like on the VariCam and reminiscent of other cameras) and you push INFO, this brings up a breakdown of the major menu settings without having to scroll through them individually. It's a great way to make sure there's no hidden gotchas in the settings, which can be so important when you're moving fast on a job. Nice little feature.

I like this vintage low contrast low resolution handheld flary look very "organic'
1960es Soviet Lens with a North Korean polyseter pantyhose infront?

OK, you got me. That's EVA1 footage of me walking off the set of one of our EVA1 promo films last month. Hey, it was hot and I hadn't had a chance to get a haircut in awhile.

BTW guys, I just tried switching between recording resolutions, frame rates, codecs, etc. Most adjustments are instant, but the sensor resolution changes took five seconds to switch during which the LCD screen displayed "Please Wait". I timed it; just five seconds. No rebooting required. Mind you, this is not all resolution changes, just the modes where the camera fundamentally changes the way it pulls the data off the sensor. If you're shooting 60p or below and you want to record at the highest quality then the switch between resolutions is instant. It's only for the modes where you can get up to a high frame rate. And if you want you can choose to shoot in those modes at low frame rates as well so then your switches would be instant.

In other words, you won't find yourself waiting for EVA1 to catch up.

Pure. I've seen footage from a professional. I was thinking of going with the c200 but after seeing the image I was blown away and will definitely be getting the eva. The colors look amazing; it just screams cinematic.

A French user has posted on the thread vouching for the company:

I'm french and it is about the EVA1. Videoplus is one of the main professional video shops in Paris, selling and renting to big cine productions and TV, they would not post a EVA1 video if it was not effectively shot on the EVA1.

To me it looks like Panasonic color. If not the EVA1 then probably GH5.

Yes, this is not being managed well by Panasonic. The waterfalls and the glass slow-mo are less than stellar ways to introduce EVA images to the world.

Mitch - get on these guys and straighten them out.

As far as I'm concerned Mitch is Panasonic USA. He has no authority over Panasonic Europe. It is possible that the embargo is different for different regions of the world. Because this clip has been around for a few days. I had seen it before it was posted on the thread as well as another supposedly EVA1 clip, also from Europe. So it may be entirely possible that EVA1 footage is out there from other regions of the world.

Well, I just told that it's a famous shop here and that it would surprise me if they lied. Now it seems Mitch Gross has some informations and that they did, as nothing is said about the footage not being shot on the EVA1 in this video.

I just called up the Videoplusfrance-shop in Paris and asked whether they shot the clip on the Eva-1. The guy on the phone sounded quite evasive and told me "Je pense pas" which translates as "I don't think so". Well, lets hope ;-)

Good to hear, I can't wait to see footage from it.

You guys don't think I'm in close contact with Panasonic Europe, Japan, Australia, etc.?

This video is about EVA1 but not shot on it. Panasonic has asked that this be clarified on the video or it be removed.

Some people have forgotten that this is a well coordinated launch by a global multinational with decades of trade show and product launch experience. It almost comical that someone would think you don't know who to call in Europe or Japan to find out what's going.

I don't think anybody said Mitch could not reach out to Panasonic Europe and ASK what is going on. But that is VERY different from calling them to STRAIGHTEN them out. Sony Europe, Panasonic Europe etc are their own entities. You should have heard what a rep in Europe told me once when I brought up the US branch of his camera company doing or not doing something in such way. But it would not be proper language for a public forum.
