Agreed. Not everyone likes them, but I find them very very useful. Great for numerous purposes. If the focus squares could be on the EVA1 monitor they'd be very handy.

Not a huge fan in their current implamintation. They need to change to a different color when they are at their biggest. I can see them being used for evaluation, but not live shooting.

I'm pretty sure EVA1 will offer both Spanning (continuous record from one card to the other) as well as Mirroring (identical recording simultaneous to both cards). Not sure if it will do any form of Proxy (simultaneous lesser format to 2nd card). It's possible, I just don't know right now.

Mitch, this is a related but somewhat different question from the Proxy. When the EVA1 gets the RAW output update, will it be able to output the RAW to external recorder and record a compressed file to SD simultaneously? Thanks!

I'm 99% positive that the answer to that is yes. This is what can be currently done on the VariCam LT.

From the interviews I've seen you do, it appears that the EVA-1 can do 4K out of the SDI.
Will that be up to 4K/30p uncompressed? I want to to use an external ProRes recorder as a back-up.
Lastly, can I do 23.97/24p out as well?

I am confident that Mitch would have let us know if so. I think the next official promotional material release is slated for mid July and that's complete camera specs.

EVA1 will certainly do at least that. 4K 10-bit from 23.97p-30p. There will also be 4K 10-bit over HDMI.

These will be available at first release. The RAW output will be at a later date.
