As soon as possible, but really I'm not at liberty to give details.

Hi Mitch, I am not sure if this is your department, but I keep hearing that the 400mbps Intra firmware upgrade for the GH5 has been (potentially) delayed for later in the Summer, as it is tied to the EVA-1 in some way?

I have emailed, and tweeted to Panasonic on social media for an update on when they update is coming for the GH5 but to no avail... so it would be nice if someone from Panasonic lets us know on what is happening with the firmware.

Thanks again for your time,

The GH5 400 Mbps upgrade is completely dependent on the broad release of the new V60 and V90 SDXC memory cards. It's the first type of SD card that guarantees a minimum write speed, which the GH5 needs to guarantee flawless performance at 400 Mbps. These new Vxx cards are expected to be available from several manufacturers around the end of August.

I would like to know as well... Hopefully we will get an update..

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, nice to meet you all. In regards to the Panasonic EVA1 and it's competition, with the recent price drop to the C300 Mark II now being around 10K, would any of you consider it a worthy competitor/alternative and perhaps take it over the EVA1. I know it lacks 4K 60p but I haven't really seen anyone throw that camera into the conversation and want to see what people think.
Thanks!

I think we have to wait until the cake is baked for the EVA1. The final feature set and price may change by September. I'm expecting a few surprises still to come between now and then.

Sure, these are coming up shortly, I know that, but Panasonic are already selling V90 SDXC cards: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-...6177&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=panasonic+sdxc+v90

so not sure what the delay is there....

B&H Photo in New York has been selling Delkin V90 cards for several months now, but I know that if I walk into any local photo/video store here in Toronto I won't find a single V90 card, and I would guess that this is the case with all major cities around the world. I can find GH5 cameras almost anywhere, but the elusive V90 card is really hard to find unless you special order it from a specific outlet.

By the end of August, I expect that you should be able to find V90 cards at any major photo/video store selling the GH5. Right now that is not the case.

Thanks again for your time,

Word from the Panasonic North America Lumix Group: Still on track for a Summer firmware update release. Nothing more to share at this time.

And please understand: "summer" doesn't necessarily mean July. Summer runs from June 21 to September 22. Now, that doesn't mean it won't come out until late September, of course... But it also means that it will be on schedule and on time even if it comes out as late as September.

So we should see it sometime in the next 10 weeks or so.

There's a rumor he will write two; the regular definitive guide and a special limited-edition version titled, "The EVA1 Book: What Mitch Gross doesn't want you to know."
