Really, "matsush ita" is irrelevant. The company changed their name officially to "Panasonic" years ago... There is no "Matsush ita" anymore.

I was going to post this from Wikipedia...

"Panasonic Corporation (パナソニック株式会社? Panasonikku Kabushiki-gaisha), formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (松下電器産業株式会社? Matsushita Denki Sangyō Kabushiki-gaisha), is a Japanese multinational electronics corporation headquartered in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan".

Yes but WHAT KIND OF GRAPES???

I will admit, I've been looking forward to more posts in this thread. The EVA is an exciting camera from what we've seen so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing more about it!

Thank you Mitch for answer and another question from me:
will be option to taking a full resolution raw photo with EVA on SD card? It would be nice for people like me which works in photography and filmaking.

I don't know that we'll have stills grab capability in EVA1.

question to Mitch: there are two SD slots, will the camera have simultaneous recording to both cards? Im always somewhat skeptical of the integrity of SD cards.

I'm sure Mitch will answer with what info he can reveal. As to Panasonic's other SD-card professional cameras, they all offer simultaneous recording and also relay recording (rolling over from one slot to the other).

Their DVX200 and UX180 also offer dual-codec recording, where you can record a master format (like 4K) on one card, and simultaneously record a different format (like 1080p) on the other card.

Panasonic's been inventive about how they use both card slots on other cameras. Hopefully they will integrate these capabilities (if not more) in the EVA.

I'm pretty sure EVA1 will offer both Spanning (continuous record from one card to the other) as well as Mirroring (identical recording simultaneous to both cards). Not sure if it will do any form of Proxy (simultaneous lesser format to 2nd card). It's possible, I just don't know right now.

Thanks Mitch for fielding all these questions! I have a bit of a different kind. It's been mentioned that the sensor is still in testing, and there are plenty of details you can't share yet about the sensor and camera in general. For the details that aren't secret ;) what's the process by which Panasonic is still deciding these features, and what are these tests like?

Hi Mitch,

Just watched(actually dissecting) your interview at Band Pro. At 1:35 you start talking about the internal recording of the EVA1:

"4K at up to 60fps and 2K at 240fps and that recording on SD-XC cards. In that recording, you're going to have the ability to go 4:2:2 in 10bit SO NONE OF THIS 8BIT STUFF you're going to have this very rich recording not 4:2:0...4:2:2."

So is it safe to say internal 4K 60P and 2K at 240fps will be 4:2:2 10bit(none of this 8bit stuff)? You seemed very careful how you worded things...perhaps a Freudian slip? ;)

I'm really not going to go into details here; that's corporate secret type stuff. But I can tell you that with all technology there is the spec in theory v the performance in practice. You put the stuff together with certain theoretical expectations and discover what it is actually doing. That performance can be due to certain hidden interactions or odd hidden issues. Sometimes it can actually mean increased performance. So you go from what you think it will be to what it actually is, and then you figure out how to adjust to get it where you want.

The same thing goes for software. Ask anyone who codes and they'll tell you programming is 10% original writing and 90% bug hunting. You discover some weird interaction between two parts of a program that you would never think had anything to do with one another. Same deal in physical stuff.

Detailed specs coming soon enough. Well before the camera ships.

Thank you, that's very interesting!
