This thread'll be well past 1000 posts before the reveal at this rate. And if the image is really, really great, I'm sure lots of people will christen this new camera "Varicam Mini" even though, most likely, it will not be a Varicam at all. Not even close. Do people call the FS7 "Cine Alta Mini"?

Without incriminating myself, let's just say that The name is.... hmm... how do I saw it - rather strange for a camera IMHO... and with all due respect to Mitch, I'll keep quiet :)

And no, it's not called a VARICAM Mini, it's not a varicam anything ....

I am personally very surprised at some of the specs. In a good way. Can't wait to 4:15 to share with you all :)

I call the GH4/5 the Varicam mini even though it isn't.
 
We know it's going to have internal 4:2:2 10bit like the GH5 but please be a super 35mm sensor with an EF mount. If it has the above and also allows external raw this camera can dominate the sub $10k market as it's most likely it will be priced around $6k.

Stranger than Blackmagic URSA Mini? That one sounds like a race horse or something.
 
not that it matters what a camera is called, i just found it strange, but hey - its far more important what it can do right.
 
The EF Micro or Cine Micro or MicroCam or Micro35 -not saying I want these to be the name, just throwing some out there to guess- for some reason I keep thinking this camera is going to have the word Micro (or maybe Mini) in it after hearing (from k0bayashi's post above) that it's a rather strange name for a camera; think maybe that means no typical alphanumerical combo of 3 letter, 3 number (DVX100, AF101, etc).

Really just wasting time here and need to get back to work. And unless a zombie apocalypse or something happens in the next few hours.. we should have all the details very soon about this "mystery" camera, least importantly it's name :)

That being said, My wishlist:

1) MFT or S35
2) Internal ND (variable a plus)
3) 5-axis IBIS
4) 4k60p
5) Punch-in whilst recording
6) Canon-style ergonomics
7) Canon-stye low-light
8) SD cards
9) Varicam DR and log. (I'm not crazy about how log looks on my GH5)
10) Same codecs as GH5 plus a higher bitrate long GOP option
11) Price tag < $6k
