Lovely looking. Let the pixel peepers have at it...
"circa 1999 euros for the body and perhaps the same again for the XLR / HD-SDI box."
that's not saying much tbh. the last hurdle for me is the DR, i'd need to see comparison shots between BM camerasDynamic range was also very impressive, not just on the video side. The new sensor has improved. We were showed a selection of stills that demonstrated much better highlight retention and roll off than the other cameras on display including the full frame Canon 6D and Nikon D610.
yikes. 4k for 4k still a good deal, imo.

Sensor is going to be at least 12.x stops of dynamic range, if not better. (given that gh3 sensor and other panasonic sensors of late were in this range)
4:2:2 10bit prores output should be very similar, I'd think, as BM sensor is around 13.
Not that I'd expect it to beat raw output. (of course, gh4 will have the advantage of 4k, which downsampled may give some of the BM raw stuff a run for its money where resolution quality is concerned)
I suspect with tweaking even in the in-camera 8bit output should have very solid dynamic range when we take into account our ability to control the image profile in the camera. (didn't I read we were able to tweak gamma and luminance?)
Nikon 610 has the second best DR of any DSLR ever built, just behind the D800, so I wonder about this claim. That said, the GH3 is better than the 5d2/3 for DR.
in that quote they're just talking about highlight recovery, not total DR
the D610 lets you get a lot of info back from your shadows, the GH4 may not (as much)
The biggest shortcoming as far as DR with any compressed codec video is shadow recovery. Deep shadow data is thrown away first in compression.
The BIG difference with the GH4 is that you can bypass all that processing and go 10 bit 4:2:2 to pro res on a Ninja. Can't wait to see those tests!
