Seems like a nice lens for gh1.. Its 4/3 system so it needs micro 4/3 adapter. I wonder if manual apeture control will work and the mega ois(image stabilizer)

Any thoughts?
The OIS works just fine, some guy posted videos with the OIS on Youtube.
Aperture control works fine with all 4/3rds lenses adapted to a micro four thirds body.

The only thing you really have to worry about is focusing - not many lenses can autofocus on an adapter and none can continually autofocus.

Also, I bought a 14-54mm Olympus, which, while it doesn't have OIS, you don't quite need it (although it sure would help) but it's nothing that a small gorillapod or some form of portable support won't cure. It's $150 cheaper and you have a longer range and can focus 3 inches from the front of the lens. It's also weather sealed and durable. The panny lens you have has a bad reputation of breaking and having screws loose inside and being made of too much plastic for that price of lens.

It does AF in stills, but how well am not sure

I believe it was designed to work with CD(contrast detection) AF for the Olympus 43 live view system, its a nice lense for sure. Its annoying that Olympus wont slap a proper m43 mount on it! or even that Pana wont do similar on the 14-502.8. These guys puzzle me, delivering great h/w on one side and forgetting about the lenses.

Since we are talking about lenses for the gh1 here, how does the newer 14-42 (g2 kit) compares with the older 14-45 lens (g1 kit)? If both were available and the 14-42 was about half the price of the 14-45 which one would you get for the gh1?
