Panasonic 14-140mm lens equivalent on 5200 for video

I have moved from my GH2 to a Nikon 5200 for video and stills. I am looking for a lens suggestion that is equivalent to the Panasonic 14-140mm F/4 for video. The 14-140 was a real workhorse.

Nikon 18-200 or 18-300 (both 3.5-5.6?) are decent lenses, so long as you're realistic on your expectations of a superzoom

I think the Tamron is 3.5-6.3

Take a look at the new Sigma 18-250 OS Macro (not the older one). It's 18-250 3.5-6.3 and DPR rated it the best of the current super zooms (although the $1K 18-300 nikkor is a little shaprer). I own the 300, 80-200, and 12-24 Nikkors and this lens does a very good job compared to them. It small and light weight, so at 18mm is a good run and gun. The VR is very good as is the autofocus (quiet and fast).

I'd do anything possible to avoid going slower than F4.

But for video, you can look at older AIS zooms, etc. The 35-70 2.8 AF is a killer lens... the 18-35 3.5/4.5 is a little slow on the long end but a great lens for the $$. And you get FF compatibility and aperture rings.

Also, keep in mind that the Panasonic 14-140mm is a parfocal lens, so it will hold focus while zooming.

No, it is not. The focus shifts dramatically as you rack zoom between focal lengths.

Any of the Nikon super zooms will cover the same range as the 14-140 you're used to. I enjoyed the 18-200 VR when I owned it for stills.

I can't find a direct reference from Panasonic, but apparently the 14-140mm was "electronically" parfocal at one point, but Panasonic botched this with a later firmware update.

I owned this lens when I first bought my GH2, but sold it a month later because I couldn't stand the slow f-stop.

If you think about it, there's no reason a focus-by-wire lens should not be parfocal. It's in the hands of the firmware designer to make it so, they must be really lazy if they're not doing it (since even photo newbies are known to zoom-in for focus, then out to take the pic).
