Since 720P PAL is still not supported by most NLE's, specially on Mac, (raylight for PC is now supporting 720P25!), I think this information should be usefull for someone that wants to shoot 720P and take advantage of the Variable frame rates.
If you want to present your results to an investor or see how your 720p product will look in the end, what you have to do is simply record 720P in Camera, do the variable frame rates, then downconvert IN CAMERA to dv. This way, you keep your P2 720p master for future editing (when there's future NLE compatibility), but can edit RIGHT AWAY the DV footage with the Variable frame rates effect. So you can basically present your movie to investors in excelent DV quality, and than complete the HD mastering when the Post-production process is available.
(This process works on the NTSC camera, and since the PAL camera works the same, it should work. I'm sure Barry Green posted the way to do this in another thread
)
Now keep those mails to Apple and Avid flowing! Once again, here's the link to Apple FCP feedback page
http://www.apple.com/feedback/finalcutpro.html
And ask for 720p 50 support! ( Tell them PC already supports it with Raylight!)
