PAL 25p Native wrapper with SanDisk Class 10

Many people appear to like the GH1's sub-sampled image quality better than Canon's moire-prone video artifacts, regardless of bitrate. For video, I prefer an even softer focus myself, and often use a Tiffen black-tint diffusion filter in front of the lens to minimize digital edge aliasing. At low frame rates, razor sharp edges don't usually produce the most pleasing moving images.

Also please note, it's spelled "LPowell", not "ipowell". ;-)

Feon,

I only had lockup with the 20mm in detailed moving shots. The old Zeiss primes were no problem. What lenses are you using?

Hi Peter,

Have you tried your 1080 25p settings with the stock Panasonic 14-140 Lens together with the Sandisk Extreme class 10 card?.

Hi Noel, just sent you a PM. But here is the gist for others who might find this useful.

I've never had a lockup with the Sandisks and the 14-140, and I've shot quite a few different scenarios with it. I always try to get the best card, usually the most expensive I guess. It was the 20mm that locked the Sandisk but that was in very detailed bush setting. See if you can try a Sandisk at a camera shop and film at 14mm with a very detailed background and also panning. With the 20mm, it locked up when I moved the camera L - R or vice versa. But I've used it heaps since without problems so maybe it is your cards.

I also use 25Pn 1080, so maybe that is different from your settings if you are in the US. Good luck and keep shooting!

my point of interest is native 25p really that important for us PAL users? Can we not just drop into a 25p timeline or is it not as simple as that?
The whole reason I started this thread was to NOT have to discuss that again. The motives to use 25p Natively are obvious. If they aren't, do a search on this forum and you'll find your answers.

Great, thanks Peter.
I'll give the Sandisk a go.
