P2Formatter not recognizing cards

For some reason P2Formatter for my MBP is not recognizing my 64GB P2 cards. My HPX170 is connected to my MBP through Firewire and I was unable to unload my P2 cards fine, it's just that now I want to name them and reformat and it won't let me for some reason because P2Formatter isn't recognizing the cards.

I know I can reformat the cards in camera but I'd like to be able to name my cards and reformat on my MBP.

Has anyone encountered this problem? Are there any other free stable solutions to formatting P2 cards on Mac OS X?

I wonder if it's because I am going from Camera to MBP through Firewire and not inserting the cards into my MBP through a duel adapter or what not.

Could be the problem. Not sure though.
 
why are you using P2 formatter in the first place? just format the card in-camera...

from the panasonic website:
"P2 Card Formatter for Mac can be used only with AJ-PCD20 /PCD35, Card Bus or AJ-PCD2(SnowLeopard and Leopard only)."
