P2cms

I have installed this software in my old PowerBook G4. No problems and a great help.

I proceeded to the same installation on my new Intel MacBookPro. I first installed the P2 Store driver, then the P2 Store Management and after that P2CMS.
It's recognizing the P2 Store and I can mount and ingest clips, but if I try to watch them I get only the audio. No images...

Am I missing something?

7.2 isn't supported, and I find it hit or miss depending on what machine it is on.

What is a little difficult to understand is why no update has been provided by Panasonic.

7.2 has been out for months.

Thanks David.

At least it makes me feel that I'm not crazy or stupid.
Hopefully the Panasonic engineers are listening.

Try this: Go to quicktime --> preferences --> and then choose the advanced tab. Choose safe mode (GDI), and see if that makes p2cms work.

This is a workaround for different problems folks have had. The cause is a conflict with quicktime and newer nvidia forceware builds. I don't know if it will make p2cms work, but if fixed my problem with being unable to export h264's in my nle. It has fixed others problems with browsers crashing when trying to play embedded quicktime files, and so on... So, it's worth a shot. I'd be interested to know if it works for you.

Jason

Jason, I don't see a safe mode option in the QT preferences, advanced tab.

I see:

Synthesizer
Transport set ip
enable kiosk/flash
MIME Settings
and Media Keys

I went to EDIT --> Preferences --> Quicktime Preferences.

That brings up the window with the following tabs:
Register, Audio, Browser, Update, Streaming, Advanced.

In the advanced tab, there should be a box in the middle called video. There is the Safe mode option and the directx option (which is all on by default). I turn that off, and turn on the safe mode option.

Maybe it looks different in the mac version of qt... but that would be where you should find the option to change it.

Yeah Jason I'm running OS 10.4 and the set up is different.

Still can't make my p2cms work on this machine...

I figure out what was missing. Final Cut Pro.
Although QT was a 7.2 Pro version it probably couldn't figure out the DVCPRO HD footage without the codec.
FCP was installed and it's playing now.

Thanks.

SO;
Am having the same issue on a PB 1.5,
thumbnails, Audio plays great, white space for picture.
I know this means the codec is not available.

But, does this need thhe DVC ProHD codec or Final Cut Pro, or Both?

I can't tell you if is one or the other or both.
In my case after I've installed FCP the software worked perfectly.

Good luck!
