Having a bit of trouble. put the card into my laptop.. nothing is happening. The drivers are installed and I can open the contents of the folder but i'm not sure what to do with these contents to get them to premier and the p2 management program isnt really giving me any options... any help on what to do?

Anybody? I cant find any info in the instruction book or the bootcamp book on how to offload p2 footage from the card to laptop

  1. Did you check the PCMCIA/PCCard option in addition to the camera-specific USB drivers during the driver installation?
  2. Can you see the card as a removable drive in Windows Explorer?
  3. What happens when you select a P2 card as the source in P2CMS (assuming the cards show up)?
  4. Which version of Premiere are you using?

1. yes
2. yes
3. Nothing happens involving the card with any of the p2 programs. I'm not sure if i'm suppose to go into a certain area and select the p2 , doesnt look like it. Is there instructions for this anywhere?
4. havn't gotton to premier yet but cs3.

The P2 card shows up in your Windows Explorer as a regular removable storage device (just like an external disk drive). You can copy the CONTENTS folder and LASTCLIP.TXT file onto your hard disk. Or you can navigate into the CONTENTS/VIDEO folder and import the MXF files directly into Premiere Pro CS3.1.

thanks barry. that worked. Sorry it's just a bit overwhelming when your so used to using tapes.

From my experience, if Windows can see your card in "My Computer" the P2CMS software will see the P2 card. Make sure that the "ingest" button is selected and from the Drive drop-down you select the same drive letter that shows up in My Computer associated with the P2 Card.
