I have two 720p 60p files recorded from hpx170 on one card that play fine in P2 Viewer but one file got a purple exclamation point.

The file using a virtual card in P2 Viewer plays perfectly.

This is the second of the 2 files recorded on that only card. So it’s not that we ran to another card or the recording got interrupted, still got the original recording and in p2 viewer, this card is o.k. no purple nothing so i tried to transfert again the card and same thing...still the purple exclamation on the same clip...

Can somebody tell me what is all about ?

Hi Barry, thanks for the answer, i was thinking about it but how this is can be, everything recorded on one card. on this particular one, it's an interview of 11 minutes on a 64GB E Series card.

In fact, i got a lot on these exclamation points through my shooting day, on two different camera, never on full card but every time on E Series cards.

But, i not sure about it but i think these are all long clip so do you think i got something to see with my offload procedure.

I got a laptop with an internal pcmcia and an express card to esata adaptor and two HDD(drag and drop).

What is the incidence of span clip ?

Is there something wrong than i can avoid ?

Do i need to repair it and how can i do it because on the card everything is fine ?

A spanned clip is created whenever an individual file exceeds 4GB in size. If you're recording 11 minutes in 1080p, 1080i, or 720/60p, you're making spanned clips -- in those modes it's about one gigabyte per minute, so each interview is going to be composed of three clips (two 4gb and one 3gb).

Are you copying over the entire contents of the card? If you're copying only selected MXF files then you'll definitely create this problem; if you're copying over the entire contents of the card then everything should be present and you shouldn't be getting the problem.

Hip Hip Hip hurrah....

I was shooting and offloading all day long yesterday and did see purple exclamation points again and again, your response was such a relief...

i used to copy everything from the card to the HDD so there is absolutely no problem with that.

Thanks Barry for your kindness and for spreading your ''savoir''.
