P2 Viewer in XP64 Not Happening :(

Just did a nice clean install of XP64 SP2, all my best apps, drivers, updates, etc. and after 10 hours of reboots I just discovered that Panasonic's P2 Viewer won't run on XP64 :(

AFAIK That makes it impossible to edit P2 files on Vegas. P2 Viewer runs on Vista 64, and 32-bit XP though. What a bummer.

Anybody know any workarounds or plans for future XP64 support from Panasonic?

I still have my XP32 to fall back on, but I was looking forward to the extra memory and processor utilization.

(I also noticed that XP64 doesn't seem to want WMP11. Wondering if that's a related issue.)

Update - I was able to get most P2 apps to run in XP64 by coping over the right files from XP32, but I've yet to find a way to install the P2 Drivers. So even though the Viewer and Mgmt apps run, they don't do anything. :(

Hey Tim,
I also have xp64. I thought it would be great for the same reasons you have, but damn these developers just don't seem intersted in providing driver. and with Vista 64, you can bet that will never happen. :(

Which files did you copy to get P2 viewer and Mangament to open in XP64. I had at one point installed Edius 4.5 in XP and it worked. and the P2 Select from edius worked just fine. so maybe I have P2 Drivers forced installed by Edius and if I can get the P2 Viewer to open then it might work.

you might also try installing a demo version of Edius 4.5 with the Broadcast features. (P2 workflow capabilities) and that might do it for you. Just a thought.

I copied over the whole Program Files\Panasonic P2 folder structure. When you run the apps (exe's) you'll get missing DLL file messages. Find those DLL's (like MFC**.dll) from your XP64 drive and copy them to the folder with the app's EXE and the errors will stop.

I have updated all the links on my P2 driver guide and there are official Vista 64-bit drivers available. If you start having good results, post back what you did so we can help other users (myself included) make the 64-bit transition.

I spent two hours yesterday just trying to play a DVD in Vista. It will be a while before I make the jump!
