any idaes?

There is an issue with P2 Viewer taking a long time (a few minutes) to start up on systems that have a multimedia card reader installed.

If you have a SD/CF/MS etc. card reader, try disabling it temporarily in Device Manager. If that turns out to be the problem, then create a second hardware profile, one that contains the drivers needed for it, one without, and boot into the profile you need.

it doesnt even load up.... gets stuck. In task manager says... "not responding"

I do have a SD/CF/MS card thing-ma-jig in front. So that good be fackin with it.?!?

I have an octoflex editin system...

Instead of continuing to bang your head against the wall, just try disabling the card reader and see if it makes a difference.

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager, locate the device, disable it, then try to start P2 Viewer. If that does the trick, go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Hardware Profiles and create a profile without the drivers for the card reader.

Yup, that would be the culprit.

I think what happens is that P2 Viewer scans all removable drives for P2 media on startup, and some card readers take a long time to respond and report back a "no media" error. I have a 12-in-1 card reader that causes no such issues for P2 Viewer.

fackin awesome! Dis thing is workin. Sheesh.... wat a waste of a week looking for answers.

Since u are on PC wat are u using to edit your MXF files? I have a program called aspect HD from cineform that converts the .mxf files into avi. However it also cause'n me issues.

Wat do u use to edit? Are u also converting?

I use Edius 4 Broadcast V4.24, which has native MXF/P2 support. I also record events using DV Rack 2.1 HD, which outputs AVI files using the DVCProHD codec.

Edius can edit both formats absolutely painlessly.
