P2 to Vista?

I had been using P2CMS on my MBP and after reading so much about the simplicity with Premeire I decided to switch platforms. Only problem is that P2CMS doesn't work with Vista so how do I offload my clips without doing blind dumps to a HDD like described in the manual. How are Vista users dealing with this. I tried a search but didn't find what i needed.

I've had a little trouble with this myself. I have the HVX connected to the PC via Firewire. I then go into the VIDEO folder of the P2 card and drag and drop all my files into a new folder on the computer and the copy window just hangs there.

When I try importing them in Premiere while they're still on the P2 card, it does so, but gets hung up generating a wave form image. *shrug*

Don't do that. Firewire is not supported under Windows for file transfer. Use USB instead.

NO! Never go into the individual folders, always drag the entire CONTENTS folder! Cherry-picking files is totally not the right workflow to use!

I'll have to try that when I got home. I just got the camera a few weeks ago and it's quite an intimidating piece of equipment. I suppose I'll get the hang of it after a while. I might have to pick up that Bootcamp DVD, too.

FWIW, we have been on Vist Ultimate 64 for just over a year. No problems once we got our 3Ware drivers for the controller cards.
Of course, we don't load our main edit machine with a bunch of applications.

And yeh, get Barry's book. It makes the camera seem so much easier. :)

Well, I got home last night and hooked up the camera to my PC using the USB cable and it worked like a charm. It only took a few minutes to transfer 5gb of data.

Thanks for the advice!
