I apologize for anoying everyone but I need this question answered and no one has posed this problem yet.

So i use the great P2GENIE to unload the contents of my card onto the desktop of my powerbook. So i have my folder set with all the contents of my card. I drag the entire folder onto the icon of my external hardrive. Now here is where i have problems, it takes 2 hrs just for a folder full of two 4G p2 cards to unload into my external hardrive. I must be doing something wrong.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks

Yup. Sounds like USB. For me duping 80 gigs of video to a USB 1 estimated 28 hours. Tried it on a USB 2, took about 2 hours. Did the same one on Firewire 400 (supposedly slower than USB2) took about 45 minutes. So much for peak specifications.

so is this normal.? should i be going a different route such as firewire?

For USB 1.1 that is normal because the maximum speed is ~12Mbps, or roughly 1 megabyte per second. Thus it will take about 1000 seconds to transfer 1GB, an amount of data the HVX200 can accumulate in one minute when shooting DVCProHD.

There is no way to do this any faster if you are limited to USB 1.1 speeds. USB 2 is up to fourty times faster, and Firewire is as fast or faster in real-world use. Get off USB 1.1.
