P2 Store connection issues - please help *cries*

So I rented this nice little P2 Store and hooked it up to my WinXP machine which already had the P2 drivers installed, since I import data from the camera using the USB port, and launched the P2 Store Manager App.

And thats all that happens. Actually what is troubling me is that is always says that it's "connecting" in the lower left corner of the app and there are NO drives assigned. it has been like this for about 15 minutes now and was like that before for about 5 minutes.

I do notice that with the P2 Store connected my PC mounts two drives G: and H: to my system, those are the drives that are normally mounted when I connect my HVX. what gives? is there a setting somewhere i'm forgetting?

I can see all kinds of other data on the P2 store. I see that 6 8GB partitions have been written to it and the date and time seem correct. But I can't get it to mount any drives that matter.

I need to try and figure out WTF in the next 6 hours. please have mercy on me.

So I thought I knew what was wrong but I am wrong. I "modified" the driver installation because before I had only installed the drivers for HVX connection. but now after Panny said P2 Store drivers were installed and had me restart I'm still stuck waiting for this thing to stop "connecting" and give me some friggin drive letters assigned to the partitions which I can clearly see otherwise.

the saga continues...

so i installed the drivers, fresh, on a winXP laptop, do the restart dance, hook everything up and again P2 Store Manager app always says it is "connecting" and never assigns drive letters but mounts two drives to my system that say "please insert disc" when you try to access them.

now i'm thoroughly confused. i was just able to "quick format" the P2 Store using the Store Manager app but could never get it to mounth the partition as a drive on my PC.

i'm going to work on something else and pray that one of you kind knowledgable souls comes across this post and answers what troubles me before midnite PST.

*gets on knees and says P2 prayers*

well asl usual to answer my own question. the problem was that the f*ing P2 Store was set up for Mac mode, not PC. I'm glad Panasonic has thorougly documented this fine device. grrr, nothing like 2 hours of lost sleep cuz of you mac heads :)

quoted from another post that i found seaching google note dvxusers own engine, go figure:

Here's what you're supposed to do:
Plug in the USB cable to the Mac and the P2 Store.
Make sure the USB light lights up.
Press and hold down the Cancel button, the Battery
Level indicator, and the Hard Disk Drive capacity
indicator simultaneously, and hold 'em down for five
seconds.

The USB LED light should change color. It should go
orange for Mac, and green for Windows.

Fresh out of the box, the p2 store is PC, but since content mentioned renting in his post, it would seem that the previous user was on Mac. The drive stays in whatever mode it was last assigned.

So the Mac guy that gets it next will be cursing the PC heads!

I've printed and laminated the 3 button salute instructions and they live in the case with the p2 store, you might want to encourage your rental house to do the same.

Sorry I didn't get to your post earlier when you needed the fix.

Will switching modes format the drive in any way? I was up shooting all night, and now I can't get the P2 store to mount on a Mac....ahhhh!

Thanks,
MC
