P2 on HVX200 camera out to FCP

I just bought a new MacBook Pro after getting rid of my old one, and I noticed that the PCMCIA slot is different... smaller.

I need to get footage off the cards ASAP... is there a way to go off the cards in the camera into FCP or do I need a reader?

Yes, if you connect the camera via firewire and then press and hold the VTR mode button you use the camera as a deck and capture the cards off it.

The new laptops come with an ExpressCard slot, not PCMCIA/PCCard. Duel Systems makes an adapter that lets you read P2 cards with a ExpressCard laptop, but if you select the IEEE 1394 option while installing the Panasonic P2 drivers, you can mount the P2 cards while they are in the camera by going into MCR mode, and then pressing and holding the MODE button for another two seconds.
