P2 not recognizing on PCMCIA (PC)

I'm less than 48 hours from heading to Africa for 2 weeks to shoot a doc and have just gotten my hands on the gear I will be using.

Problem -- Win 7 is not recognizing the p2 cards. In other words, my well-oiled workflow has screeched to a halt.

What I've tried -- I have downloaded what I have found to be the right drivers from the Panny website. The driver install prompts me to select a device for USB (I choose the HVX200 I will be using) and it runs. I assume it is running the PCMCIA driver.

End of the day Win 7 still does not show the P2 in My Computer or the P2 Card Manager.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm riding a ticking time bomb...

Thanks guys

Are you using the camera as a card reader, or a CardBus slot on the computer? USB would only be involved if you were using the camera (or some other card-reading device), not the computer's CardBus slots....?

PCMCIA slot on PC.
I understand that USB does not apply to that, but I only mention it because the install prompts you to select the device you will be using.

Long and short is that the PCMCIA slot is not recognizing the P2 even after the driver install.

Right... but, more importantly, either the installer doesn't recognize that you have the CardBus slots, or it's the wrong installer.

When you say PCMCIA, do you mean CardBus (though I can't imagine you're using a computer old enough to be pre-cardbus!)

What installer are you using? What kind of computer is it? Does the CardBus slot work with other devices?

Just in case, did you take not of this?

"Notice: CardBusDriver
The P2 card driver needs to be installed for each card bus slots.
When installing Driver software to a personal computer that has two or more card bus slots, please insert the P2 card into every slot."

Yes. cardbus.

Interesting discovery I just made. I ran the Windows XP driver install on my wife PC.

It provides an option to install for CardBus slot. Win 7, 64 bit does not have this checkbox option. Am I missing something obvious here?

latest install for 64bit from Panny website.
HP Pavillion dv4 laptop
slot works with other devices just fine.

Just to be sure... you have cards in the slots when running the installer? What does windows say when you insert the cards?
