P2 logging question

I'm using an HVX at the moment for several projects. I'm still trying to work out the best way to log the takes and would appreciate some suggestions from more experienced PC users. I'm still on Premiere 2.0, so my workflow is copy the footage from the card, convert using Cineform, and edit. It works fine, except that all the MXF files are named in such a way as to make it inconvenient.

For example, the string of letters after the number (like 011UB.mxf) confuses Windows and so the clips is not organized in the order that it was shot. Is there a way to tell the camera how to name the clips?

Also, I went out yesterday and shot nine clips, which came out numbered 001-009; today I went out and shoot several more clips after formatting the card, and the numbering continues as 010, 011 and so on instead of reseting to 001. Is there a way to reset the order of the number?

Thanks!

Investigate P2 Content Management from Panasonic which allows you to reset Metadata. Also it's not necessary to convert to Cineform before cutting, in fact it's an extra step that adds no new image quality.

I've considered P2CMS, although Cineform throws out the metadata in anycase. Premiere doesn't start to support MXF editing until CS3, and so it's necessary for me to convert to Cineform first.

Dumb question but why go cineform instead of upgrading to CS3?

I tried out CS3 for a few days, didn't like it and went back to PP2.0. The program in my opinion isn't as stable; it crashes more frequently and they removed several features that I thought was useful. Except for the much hyped time remapping feature, there wasn't much else there to justify the upgrade; I was especially disappointed when I discovered that several bugs left over from PP2.0 have not been fixed, including audio drifting when capturing HDV and inability to add pulldown to 24p footage for export to tape. Although there have been several updates since then, CS3 isn't worth it for me. The HVX isn't my regular camera in any case; I'm just using it for this particular project. Cineform I already bought for HDV editing; I don't use the HVX enough to justify an upgrade.
