P2 log question

hi, just finished a TV pilot on the HVX200 shooting 25fps at 720p25. I noticed when I converted the native MXF files in P2 log to quicktime files that the file size was reduced by half. The MXF file started out at 2 gigs then after conversion was 1 gig. Is this normal? I'm concerned I've lost quality thru the unwrapping in P2 log.
thanks for any advice here guys,

I''ve read that the HVX200 actually records 720p50 in 720p25 mode whereby each frame is doubled meaning twice the footage size. That might suggest that P2 log drops the extra frame thus reducing the file size. Can anyone confirm this? Barry, any ideas?
thanks again,
kenb

There is no image quality loss with P2 Log or FCP P2 Import. It's only re-wrapping the exact same data from Panasonics version of the MXF format to a QuickTime format. I don't look at file sizes, so I'm not sure what's going on there. But I can tell you for sure there is no image quality loss.

Some folks keep copies of the CONTENTS folder and the LASTCLIP.TXT file and consider it their original Tape. Think before you delete anything. You'll run out of space with the QT movies FCP creates. How will you store them when you're done? Just something to think about.
