P2 Log Pro Question

Hey all,

Bought P2 Log pro the other day because FCP wouldn't import half of my files. I don't mind P2 Log, but I'm going through multiple steps I'm assuming I probably don't need to. Instead of saving a new volume with the files I export, is there a way to just export an .mxf to a quicktime movie in a folder of my choosing? I like the create a new volume thing with the marked clips inside, but since I'm just trying to get the clips over that didn't transfer, I'm just trying to export a couple clips here or there. Also, when I export FCP XML, I choose to export it with user name, but my file still shows up with the p2 file name. Isn't there a way to export the clip with your logged name so you don't have to go back and change it again?

Thanks!
Brad

The first worry I have is why didn't FCP import your files? How were you importing them? What was your workflow from the field?

Hey Tom,

Yea, I know. That's what I wondered, too. I don't know what the story is. In log and transfer, I logged all my files, they all played fine. I then selected which ones were good takes and tried both dragging the files to a bin and hitting the button "add selection to queue". Some transfered fine, others had a red exclamation point as their finished status icon and when hovered over it, said "error unknown". With P2 log, they all import fine.

It's really annoying as I'd love to be able to just use log and transfer in FCP as it saves me like 3 or 4 steps, but alas, on some files, they just won't import...

super frustrating

Where are they being digitized to? There might be something funky going on with your OS as well. try repairing permissions and try again. If it can view the clips and playback fine then there's something weird with the movie conversion. Also are your cards properly backed up with Contents folder and lastclip.txt
