P2 Laptop

I know this has been discussed before, but I can't figure out how to install the P2 drivers onto my old Dell laptop. Is the HVX supposed to be plugged in or is a P2 card supposed to be in the slot?

A notification just came up that says "Please connect AG-HVX200 (P2 handheld) by USB 2.0."

I tried connecting the HVX via USB but that didn't do anything...
This is a slow computer with 512 RAM and no firewire...should I just upgrade laptops?
Thanks.

That laptop should work just fine. I just dug up an old gateway that I have set up. to answer part of your question, the P2 card goes into the PCMCIA slot. You are going to have to go to the panny website and download the drivers. If you plug in the HVX it has be in USB mode I believe for the computer to see it. (sorry)

Connecting the HVX via USB requires that you put the HVX in PC mode (by going to MCR mode, and then holding the MODE button down for three more seconds). Unless you go to PC mode, the computer won't know the HVX is connected.

That is what I was trying to say. Thanks Barry.

I installed the CD contents and now the P2 Card Manager shows up as an icon at the bottom of my screen, but when I put the card in the slot, it doesn't come up...do I need to install something else?

I have the same problem as you. I have installed the p2 driver but still nothing happends when I put the card in to the slot. I did some research and it looks like some of these laptops dont have "type 2 PCMCIA slot" that is required. But I dont have the answer. I have a "Dell inspiron 6400" laptop.

Does anyone knows about any adapters that can be used? Or something else that can make this work?
