P2 into FCP 5.1.2 options?

Need to know my options for importing P2 clips, please.
As I've discovered here thanks to you guys, FCP 5.1.2 has some issues ingesting P2 media. I'm having about a 60% success rate.
I just purchased 5.1.2, last version I had was 3, so I can't readily put 5.1 on another drive. (Unless I'm missing something?)
Is my only other option dropping $149 on P2 Log?

The one you bought is 5.1. If you install it you will get FCP 5.1. 5.1.2 you get via UPDATING the application after you install. Don't update. Just install.

Try that.

Funny, I've been working with 5.12 and its working fine- should I knock on wood?

SPZ, yes, it's no happening on all systems, knock on LOTS of wood!

Problem solved! Thanks again guys. Got busy this past week, but I finally got around to installing 5.1 w/o update on separate drive and can now import clips that wouldn't ingest into 5.1.2

Frustrating workaround, yes. Reshoot, thankfully no. I'll take the workaround any day.
