When ingesting multiple cards, can i ingest them in the same place?

Yes, but it's advisable to put them in separate folders by card. (i.e. Project Name / Date / Card01, Card02, etc)

For organizational purposes.

There is also the risk of name conflicts -- if two clips use the same name, data will be lost due to the existing file getting overwritten.

If you're using P2CMS or P2 Viewer, none of that is a concern. You can copy any clips into any directory and P2CMS or P2 Viewer will handle spanned clips and any name conflicts inherently. So you can copy all your cards into one large project directory and do away with the "one directory per card" thing.
