p2 importing to pc problem

My hvx connected fine when I use dv footage with my firewire .. but now with p2 it doesn't give me an option to import the footage .. my camera is set to 1394 device and say device disconnected, what should I do to get my footage onto my pc.. read many forums and can't find what im looking for... please any help would be great.
 
Repeat -- if using the camera as a card reader, do *not* use 1394/firewire device mode on Windows. It is not guaranteed and you just must not do it. No, it won't work better than USB, it frequently won't work at all.

The firewire is for "streaming" -- if you wanted to do live capture to the computer or something. But for copying cards, use USB.

Ok thank you it wasn't making sense why it would caputre with the fire wire and not import p2 footage, someone else was telling me it would so I thought I could find out here... thanks again for explaining that.
