P2 Genie/HD Log Major Ommision

I'll make this brief. We shoot 720 24p on a Firestore (P2 cards are too tiny for our use). Like most production co's, we have media storage concerns. We shoot several hours of footage per week. All of our footage needs to be backed up (for clients/insurance). If we were to use either P2 Genie or HD Log, we would have to almost triple our storage capacity b/c neither of the transfer programs can remove redundant frames (pull the flagged 24 from the 60 signal that comes across firewire). Currently, we have to use FCP to bring the footage into our laptop. Is it that difficult of a feature to build in? HD Log pulls redundant frames from the 50fps signal to create a PAL file. Shouldn't it be just as easy to do the 60 to 24 file? Am I missing something here?
