p2 footage in after effects

while i am happy to be able to finally edit in Premiere is there any way to pull p2 footage into after effects? editing is great but i also need color correction, compositing etc. with my p2 footage. So is it possible to do this now or does adobe have plans for making p2 footage work with after effects?

Thanks,
Toy

P2 or MXF is coming to After effect very soon. I saw a working demo last month and the adobe guys said it should be out nlt then first 2 weeks of 2008.

I don't see much of an advantage, but others claim that it saves space by not duplicating mxf to QT.

To be honest, the mxf files I've played with in CS3 AE on a Mac seemed softer than QT rewraps.

In Edius I save an AAF file of the timeline and import that into AE. Now the timeline is rebuilt in AE and I can add effects, titles etc.

What's the advantage of using the MXF files instead of the ones imported in with FCP wrapped in quicktime?

The advantage is you do not need to import (convert) the files, they are read natively from their location. If your footage goes offline you can relink it by simply pointing to your archive. You also retain the metadata in the MXF files. And you can use premiere to after effects via dynamic link and share the timeline.

How were you able to read MXF in after effects? the 8.0.2 update isnt out yet, are you using an intermidiate? I hate having to convert the files for AE.

I guess when apple finally gets out of their chair and writes the code to ingest MXF FCP users can finally have the luxary of native MXF support
