P2 files missing on card after shoot

Hello all, I'm having an issue with data on a P2 card and I'm hoping someone can help.

Yesterday I did a shoot with my HVX200 in SD 30p squeeze mode using my two 16gig P2 cards. I have had the camera and cards for a little over 3 years and have had no problems to date.

I formatted both cards at the beginning of the shoot and began shooting. I shot through the first card and the camera rolled over to the second. I continued shooting with no issues, the rec indicator was on, the timer was counting down, all was as it should be. I was shooting some run and gun broll inside so I was powering the camera up and down between set ups but each time it worked just fine all the way through to the end of the shoot.

I use an older G4 mac laptop with the card slot to transfer files to a hard drive and today, when I put the second card in the slot it mounted just fine (the footage on the first card was perfect) but when I clicked on it it showed up as having 0 items. It also says that it has just 9.68 gigs available so I know that the footage is on there. When I dismounted the card and put it back into my camera the camera started flashing a "formatting error" prompt in red. I switched over to vcr mode to try and use the repair clip function but no thumbnails from the footage showed up, only blue screens. I did not flip the write protection slider before putting the card in the computer, but I never have before and haven't had any problems.

I would very much like to find a fix for this problem if possible as a reshoot will be a big pain. Has anyone ever had this issue before and if so were you able to fix it? Or is the card dead?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I know you'll be kicking yourself but if the card was not locked going into the system something could have happened and now it's corrupt...

Maybe some software recover program might find the data...

Good luck...

Cheers

Sorry you found out the hard way, but ALWAYS FLIP THE RIGHT PROTECT as soon as you remove the card from the camera. That being said, you have a few options. Most likely for some reason your mac tried to reformat the card. I'd recommend borrowing a pc from a friend and trying to access it. Try Recuva. http://www.piriform.com/recuva. I've had great sucsess finding pictures that i thought were gone forever. About a 99% recovery rate. Don't write anything to the card before running this program or you decrease your chances of recovery. (ITs free) If the drive comes up empty, try defragmenting the drive. (this will limit chances of recovery software working so I recommend you try that first.) Also try going into disk management and make sure there is no hidden partition. the mac could have reformatted the extra room and removed the letter form the real partition. Int his case go into disk management and re letter the first partition. I don't think the mac deleted anything..i think it just hid it.

Good luck
