P2 FCP Log and Transfer Oddity.

I'm importing some 720p24n footage I just shot into FCP, which I haven't had a problem with before, but I copied the contents onto my drive with P2Genie, then I went to log and transfer in FCP. I titled all my clips, some had in and out points, and added all the clips to the cue. Problem is, some came over, some didn't. I'd say I only got about half. The one's that didn't get copied have a little red octagonal exclamation mark next to them, and are still in the cue.

I know it's kind of vague, but does anyone know what's going on? They're all the same footage, I can't think of whats different between the 12 shots or so I did get, and the 12 I didn't.

Thanks

I just hit a few oddities myself with fcp and p2 cards.

Did you upgrade to fcp 6.0.2?

I suspect that's where my problem is.

just an idea.

DO NOT UPGRADE TO 6.0.2 YET! It breaks the P2 importer and can render all your prior imported files unreadable (or that may be tied to QT7.3, which you shouldn't upgrade to either!)

Wait for Apple to fix the bugs, probably version 6.0.3 or something.

Thanks Barry

The only solution for my problem is to uninstall FCP and go back to 6.0 or 6.0.1 if I can find it, but 6.0 is working like a charm so I'm sticking with that for a while.

This was Apples solution.

The curious thing about the problem is that the Log and Transfer window will work if I put the p2 files on my desktop or access the p2 card via my dual adapter.

It fails to log or transfer anything from a hard drive.

alright well thats a bummer. Thanks guys... I'll be more careful about updates in the future.

Doesn't seem like you guys no anyway around this without doing the whole final cut pro install all over again?

I always keep a cloned hard drive with a stable system. So, I can boot from that drive still containing FCP 6.0.1 and ingest P2.

P2Log/HDLog are now QT 7.3 compatible and those products represent an option right now. Hopefully Apple will fix soon.
