P2 CMS Question

Hey gang - I recently read in another forum that the old drag and drop method of ingesting P2 footage onto drives is NOT the recommened method. It was suggested users implement P2 CMS or some other third party applications for ingesting footage.

So, I have a few qustions... I've been doing the drag and drop thing for months and haven't seen any issues. What's the issue? Also, how is P2 CMS used to ingest footage? I'm assuming you still plug the HVX200 into your computer using the usual method. Then what? Do you invoke the P2 CMS to ingest the files?

Before I go and download and install the application can someone clue me in?

mac wise, i did drag and drop for a while, i was lucky and never had any issues, but i know some people that had major issues.

pc wise, not sure, never use pcs but i wanna think that i've read somewhere that its ok to drag and drop.

It is out now...it is $49...it is supposedly automated too. I will be testing it shortly.

Thanks guys! I checked out Barry's post. That's what I needed to know. FYI, I'm on PC so I never had to deal with MAC "finder"
