P2 clips wont play

I have some P2 footage which i copied on location to a usb hard drive. I copied the CONTENTS folder with everything in it.

1. P2 viewer shows the icons but wont play the clips.
2. I do not have edius broadcast only the standard copy


Is there a way to convert the files to AVI ????

I don't know if the files have transfered OK???? The camera man can only hold the footage for 2 days.

Did you copy the LASTCLIP.TXT file as well?

In other words, the entire contents of the p2 NO NAME volume, not just the CONTENTS folder?

Only EDIUS Broadcast handles the P2 MXF files.

Maybe Raylight can convert the files to AVI files that regular EDIUS could handle.

the camera man is converting the clips to quicktime for me.

I did get the clips to play in p2 forge. Looks like a good program. You can convert p2 clips to avi but not in the free trial.

FWIW, If the cameraman is threatening to delete the clips, I just bought 3 Seagate 500gig USB drives for about $120 each. Offer to buy a drive and have him put the files on that.
With todays file workflow, and cheap drive prices, you can always use the storage.
