OK guys, I hope you are just as happy as I am with the HPX500.
The camera is great, although we have not had much time learning it yet.
I have an issue with offloading my P2 cards.
My main editing computer is a G4 Dual running Tiger. It has FireWire400, 800, built-in USB and two extra PCI-cards, with both USB/FW400 and FW800 (the internal FW ports are dead).
Now to the problem: Using the HPX500 as 1394 device, I can manage to mount the cards. If not all of them shows up on Desktop, I mount the rest using Disk Utility.
But when I connect the HPX500 using it as USB device, nothing works. The USB PCI-card itself works fine (have tested with a USB memory stick).
And since the cards shows using FireWire, to me the drivers looks that they are properly installed?
Just to confuse things a bit more, the HPX500 works fine in BOTH USB and FireWire on our iBook G4 running Leopard. Go figure.
The last test is with my desktop mac mini, running Leopard. USB works fine, so does FireWire (but only after unplugging and re-plugging the cable).
Any ideas what might be the issue? Sure, you can switch between USB and FireWire, but the best would be to use either. I think USB2 is faster than FW400, too?
