P2 CARD to Mac Laptop workflow question

Hello

I have been reading all the threads related to the P2 card work flow.

I have worked with the HVX200 before and basically did the drag & drop - where by I would mount the P2 card to the desktop and move the data from the card to a folder on the laptop's harddrive and then I would create a back up of that folder on an external hardrive.

My questions are:

1. is that the wrong/unproper way to do it?

2. How do i make my files viewable immediatley? I am used to working with the Sony Ex1 and their clipbrowser software whereby you don't need Final Cut Pro to see clips.

Any info/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Cristina

Download P2 viewer (and the requisite drivers). It's a free Panasonic app that will let you view and offload files easily once you mount. A quick search through this site, and/or a Google search, should lead you down the right road.

Thanks you both!!

I did read the sticky by Barry Green and downloaded the P2 Management Software - but my question is can i view my imported footage and clips form that application?

Yes you can view your footage with P2CMS. Just select your P2 card which usually comes up as "NO NAME" if I remember correctly and then double click on one of the clips.
