Might be able to re-wire it to work with the HVX's switch... someone on here posted diagrams of how to build your own remote start/stop switch for the DVX; the same techniques would apply for the HVX.
The 2,5mm mini-plug socket labeled Zoom/ss on the HVX, need a 3 section jack where the tip and the base section controll the start stop. And the middle and the base are for the zoom. If you push REC/stop on your remote, you will have a closed signal. When you release it you will have a open signal.
