P2 card or...

I just placed an order for a HVX from Able Cine on Friday. As some of you may know, next Friday (June 29th) the Apple iPhone comes out. I only have enough money for a p2 card 8gb, or the iPhone. I will be able to buy either later on, but what would you get first?

I guess this question is geared toward the Mac fans out there, or those who just want the iPhone.
 
The 8GB card.

You can live without the iPhone, but you can't realistically live without a P2 card.
 
i advise NEVER buying first generation ANYTHING from apple (or any manufacturer for that matter) wait for the next revision of the iphone.

unless you think that simply having the iphone is gonna have herds of hot women beating down your door... ; ) even then, get the p2 cards
 
But a super secret feature of the iPhone is that it fits perfectly into the P2 slot and lets you talk on the phone, surf the (real) web (not some mobile version of the web) and shoot your HVX all at the same time.

The iPhone is a p2 card device and the 8 Gb version will holkd 20 minutes of 720/24pN.

It's undocumented, but it works.

well the herds of women is what i'm going for... but seriously i think i'll get a p2 card if i can find one especially because of the shortage.

Would that apply to Panasonic digital video cameras and their proprietary solid state recording medium? :)

well it looks as if finding a p2 card before the iphone comes out is near impossible without paying a lot for one.

has anyone watched the guided tour on apple.com?
 
yeah terry it does. wonder if maybe the battery tab breakage may be a first gen hvx issue...??? i could be totally wrong, just a theory...

i got burned to the tune of $30k with a premiere/media100 issue about 9 years ago. i dont buy first gen anything anymore - once bitten i say...
 
actually I heard that the iphone has native support for mxf files and you can use it to preview what you've shot on location.
 
Besides being a p2 device you can also run FCPS, shake and AE on the Iphone. And listen to your mix in surround sound !
I hear the Iphone makes great coctails tooooooooo. :beer:
 
I think the dillema is a bit off...One is a piece of professional gear and the other one is a consumer gadget...So the real question is, do you cater to your needs or your wants? Unless of course you see the HVX as a gadget rather than a tool...
 
LOL.... the fact that you are considering getting an iPhone over a P2 is pretty funny actually....it shouldn't even be a debate if you are doing any kind of HD work with your HVX.... :happy:
