P2 card Help needed

Hello Everyone!!!

I have been a long time lurker here, never bothering to sign up... at least until I decided to order an HVX200p. I love it.

However, I seem to have a problem and I was hoping the community here might be able to assist.

The problem child is the p2 card. The HVX came with the 16gig P2 card, as you know. When I inserted the card for the first time I received a message telling me the card is not compatible.

Of course a search helped let me know it could either be the need to format the p2 card or the firmware.

Well apparently that did not help as I still get the message. The camera has the option grayed out when it comes to formatting the card, and well... according to the camera the Firm ware is ok. 406. When plugging the card into the laptop slot, the laptop recognizes that the hardware is there but it is not accessible. The HVX drivers with the p2 drivers gave me a program called P2 Store Manager, which when loaded has everything grayed out as well. The protect switch on the card has been tried both ways.

I am at a loss here, and need some suggestions. Do you think the P2 card is faulty? or is there something I am over looking as a new p2 card HVX 200 user. I am planning to get the full on 35mm Lens HVX200 setup but this P2 card problem is distracting me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the latest drivers installed on your computer? Download and install the latest drivers, and then format the card on your computer and try it again.

thanks

Question though, is there some better software to use for reading the p2 card that you recommend? This is the first time i actually had to use the slot in my laptop for this and the software that comes with the camera doesnt seem to work.

The computer recognizes the p2 card but it says the device is not working properly.

Thank you guys for your help. Barry and David. I have both PC and Mac, but lean towards the PC.

Regardless, I have found out the problem. The card is faulty and had to be sent back. I got a really good deal on the camera and p2 card so I cannot complain.

It was used for only 18 hours by panasonic at a showcase and then resold as a B stock item. Along with the p2 card, it was $4100. So, 3600 for practically new camera and 500 for the p2 card. The replacement comes tomorrow. Lets hope it works this time, with no issues.

I look forward to sharing my work with this lovely gem.
