P2 and DVX100B

Hi I started shooting a documentary on my DVX100B at 24pa (23.978fps) and I want to continue shooting on a P2 camera. Which is the best format to match both cameras and having the best quality set-up on the P2 camera?

Also is my MacBookPro4,1, 2.4Ghz Intel core 2 Duo will be able to transfer the P2 cards?

Thanks

Well depending on how much you already shot, it might be worth it to shoot the rest in DVCPRO50 24pa. Otherwise just continue in standard DV 24pa. And in that case you can still shoot on tape if you wish.

Well maybe I shot 25 to 50% of it or less but I need to continue on HD because the broadcasters need an HD master and most of it to be shot on HD as well. I won't go back to DV that's the point to use the P2 from now on.

Thank you

Then shoot 720p 24PN. YOu will need to upconvert all of the DV tape now. Instant HD by redgiantsoftware.com, or Compressor...or best to use a hardware upconverter like the AJA Kona 3 or Terranex.

PN mean PROGRESSIVE NATIVE. Meaning that the camera is recording 24 actual frames per second...and only 24 fps. 24PA is Progressive Advanced. 24fps buried in a 29.97 signal...the 24 frames have to be extracted from the 29.97 signal when you capture or via Advanced Pulldown Removal.

but the material of the DVX100B recorded at 24pa was 23.978fps(non-drop) and not 24fps right? will the 24PN mode of the HVX-200 will play well with the DV 23.978fps on the same timeline?

thanks for all the input. I was told that if I just create a sequence with the settings of DVCPRO HD 720P/24 I can copy and paste all my DV material and it will upconvert automatically...

FCP will upscale the DV, but it won't be the best quality. It will be decent, but for the best results, you need hardware upconversion, or something like Compressor or Instant HD.
