P+S Technik rehoused Zeiss

Has anyone here used the P+S Technik 35Digital lenses?

They are rehoused Zeiss lenses in Nikon F mount.
Although I've heard the newer Zeiss lenses aren't quite as nice as the old C/Y variety.

Are the focus marks still accurate when mounted via adapter to a GH1?

Thoughts?

Have asked around the same question but gotten no reactions. There's also the cine modded Zeiss lenses by Duclos Lenses with Nikon F mounts, a friend got the 50 mm and is happy with it. Basically same glass as in both those P+S Technik and Zeiss own Compact Primes.

The P+S Technik ones are sold in US by ZGC

I see no reason why the focus marks would be off unless the adapter has a incorrect flange distance.

Well, the ZGC lenses don't seem to make a lot of sense to me, because of the price point, and because of the Compact Primes. The ZGC rehoused lenses cost almost as much as the Compact Primes, they're the same glass, and the C P's have probably infinitely more marketability, higher kit rental cost, and PL mounts.

The Duclos ones are interesting, but is de-clicking of the iris worth that much more? I'm tempted to think it is...

ZGC are only US resellers of the P+S Technik lenses. Same price point? A 35mm f/2.0 Compact Prime cost $4200, the P+S one is $2950, that's 70% less. As you point out the CPs have PL-mounts which also add to cost, a Nikon adapter for GH1 can be found for $70 while the Hot Rod Camera adapter cost $1200. They are also lighter, about 60-65% of the CPs weight. Pity P+S Technik don't have the 28mm f/2.0 but only the 25mm f/2.8.

But for use on a GH1 none of them makes that much sense compared to the Duclos ones. They are not just de-clicked btw, they also come with special made lens gears for follow focus and have front rings of same 77 mm diameter.

Pricing is a funny thing when looking around on the international web. The Duclos cine modded Zeiss ZFs cost just about 10% more than unmodded originals here in Europe. For some reason the Zeiss ZFs are much cheaper in US.

$2950 isn't 70% less, it's 30% less. I dunno, I don't see the point of the ZGC's, as compared to either the Duclos on the low end, or the CP's on the high end. I think you could easily make up the difference in cost on just a few lens rentals, and then you'd have a dedicated set of cinema primes, instead of modified still lenses.

But -- after having just gone and read the 15-page thread on RedUser about the Duclos ZF's, that's the way I'm going. He'll perform the service for $250 per lens if you already own the lens, or he'll sell you new lenses with the modification already installed. That's the way to go, IMO.

Yeah my mind is a bit mushy, it's late here after a long work day - of course it's 30% less, I forgot to inverse the result on my calculator. It all depends on if one wants to do rental I guess, I don't have the stomach for that. We seem to agree that the Duclos are a better option anyway.

If I could only find a dealer willing to make a deal on the ZFs. Every dealer that I can find seems to be having a strict MSRP-only policy.
