Here's a pic of my remote setup on a recent shoot in Central Asia.
We brought six 500 GB HD's and three SATA<>USB cases, keeping three copies of all data at all times. Never lost a single shot on any of the drives in a month of shooting in VERY rough conditions.
Typically I would put the HVX in PC mode, and copy the P2 to all drives at the same time -- faster than doing each individually.
With 4 16-Gig P2 I usually only had to offload at the end of the day. But sometimes when shooting interviews we had to offload over lunch. I also have a P2 Store, but never used it.
The writer (other laptop) would take notes while I offloaded the footage. We could get through everything in about an hour. A lot faster than if we shot tape!
We were staying in people's houses, and moving around a lot, so setup time was crucial. I could have this unpacked and be offloading in just a few minutes.
When the project was done, I kept a set of drives as backups, one set got sent to the editor, and the producer kept the other set.
